Will an ntsc to pal converter allow my pal PS2 to play an NTSC format game?

I have an NTSC format game but mmy PS2 is PAL so I can't play it. Will an NTSC to PAL coverter sllow me to play this game? Thanks!

  1. No it wouldn't

    An NTSC game (or even movie) would be displayed as black and white on a standard PAL television. This is because countries that use NTSC have everything encoded to a different standard than PAL. So a UK TV for example is programmed to display a different type of signal, so NTSC isn't compatible. The converter changes this, It converts the NTSC signal the game sends to your TV to a more compatible signal.

    For the game, you'd need to insert a modchip or use swap magic discs. You'd probably still need the NTSC to PAL converter though if your TV isn't NTSC compatible.


  2. No. That converter converts just an OUTPUT, but for the conversion PS2 needs something INSIDE that converts the zone. You can use Swap Magic kit or install a modchip. This will unlock regions (and you can run backups :-).
