Question:

Will an old insurance company reprint an unclaimed check?

About three years ago I had to make a trip to the emergency room. I had insurance, but I didn't have my card on me. Shortly after, I moved out of state. The hospital sent me a bill, and I believe my insurance company may have sent me a check. I am no longer with the same insurance company. I am wondering if I were to call them, if they would be able to lookup and reprint a check if I have never cashed it? Or if they would pay off the claim if I was with their company at the time.

  1. Yes, you can call them, and they can look up and see if they paid, and who they paid.  And if they paid YOU, you can ask them to put a tracer on the check, and if it was never cashed, they should reissue it.

  2. The answers vary by person. It would be a good idea to hear several of them and see the differences. Here is a good one.http://insurance.free-onlinetip.info/ins...

  3. ~~If they owed you money and you never cashed the check they still need to pay you. Call the insurance company and tell them what happened. They will be able to research it and issue you another.~~

  4. You should look first to see if the insurance company reported the money paid to you as unclaimed property.  Click on the link below and then click on your state.  Then just put in your name and see if there are any unclaimed funds in your name.  If there aren't, then you should call the insurance company and ask them.
