Will anemia effect playing volleyball?

I have played volleyball for 4 years and today I was diagnosed with anemia. I haven't been playing for a couple weeks because of summer. But I start on Friday. I have noticed that I have been short of breath. Will the anemia effect my volleyball? Will I still be able to play?

  1. OMG i have the same problem as you but i didn't know it was that serious .....

  2. It should be fine, but you'd better consult your doctor instead of simply counting on my words. Hopefully it will go away after some exercise, and medication if needed.

You might want to adjust your diet in order to increase the number of red blood cells. Tell the coach (or one of your best friends) so that they know what to expect (or say how to help you) should anything go wrong.

  3. i am anemic & i still play...

i never thought of it as too serious.

  4. No, you won`t play anymore. For safety sake, you`d better stop playing.
