  1. Water will leave the cell by osmosis and as a result the cell volume will fall along with the cell size.

    The concentration of salt should dehydrate the cell, thus it shrinks in size.

  3. water transfers through the cell membrane by passive diffusion. In other words water will freely flow to the area of greatest concentration of salts or protiens. The cell membrane in the meantime strictly controlls the concentration of salt and other elements within the cell. A greater concentration of salt outside the cell would pull water out decreasing its size.
