  1. No. It's going to take a lot more to "fix" the economy than another stimulus package.

According to what I just read, most of the new package consists of an extension for unemployment benefits.  That doesn't help those of us still employed and struggling.

The first idea of a check wasn't the answer either. According to recent surveys, most of the checks were not spent on new items, they were used to pay off existing debt. That did nothing for the economy.

We need tax breaks and lower retail pricing(especially gas and groceries). The government can start by trimming their budgets and closing programs that create waste, while pushing those tax dollars into things that create jobs and retain business, not increasing benefits for people who are out of a job.

I feel for those who are out of work, I've been there, but I also know that everything I do, is not worth a six figure salary. I have worked three jobs at a time and I've done my time "flipping burgers". Pride is not an issue when it come to making sure there is a roof over my head and food on the table.  You have to do whatever it takes to get by.

We need to stop catering to those who won't contribute to society and start catering to those whose hard earned money is being spent supporting it.

Eliminate welfare and all the programs that go along with it. Keep taxes resonable and make the government and departments(sheriff/fire/etc) self-sustaining. Your tax dollars pay for these services, yet when you need them or use them you get charged again. Use the money from these charges and fines to pay for the programs or quit charging for their use!

Make inmates earn their keep.( Many have a higher standard of living than working, law-abiding citizens.)

Trim the salaries and benefit packages of your elected officials. They get more than full-time pay for less than part-time work. Why should they make more than most of the people who pay their "wages"?(when the constitution was drafted, things like the president were non-paying positions. They took these positions because they wanted to, felt the need to, be involved. Not because it made them rich!)

Quit giving breaks to companies who out-source and to oil companies. Give these breaks to those who employ our citizens, on our soil. Give those breaks to companies who are trying to create alternative energy sources for everything from you car to your home, so we can stop being dependant on foreign oil.

There is too much to ever list here. These are just a few. And if I have offended some, I'm sorry but this is the way I feel.

  2. No. The answer is to stop printing more money. Another deficit funded stimulus package is a horrible idea, as was the first one and all Bush's deficit funded tax cuts. If we want reduced taxes we need to reduce the size of the federal government. I know how we can get rid of $12 billion a month in expenses very quickly.

  3. Not an answer to your question, but I just wanted to stand up and cheer after reading the last two answers.  Of course a stimulus package won't help the economy.  If a glimpse at the answers above doesn't show you why, then I don't know what does.

  4. No, putting the government deeper into debt for election year stunts only weakens the dollar and causes things we import, like oil, to rise in price.

  5. Hello, all  I agree totally with the answers above except for the the comment about cutting the programs that help the less fortunate. I think it's important to help people better their lives. I think we need to put stronger restrictions on these programs so people don't depend on them for the rest of their lives.

I work for JP Morgan Chase and I know my  boss is making  a high six figure salary, and all he does is text message all day!  I looked on Forbes and saw that sports players are making over 120 million per year, that's like 10000K an hour!!!!!- this is sick- one person making that much money. America needs to make some real changes

  6. NO it wont. the first one didn't and a new one wouldn't either

giving everybody money only inflates the dollar even more.
