Had a small tooth abscess. On Sat I had it drained and the tooth was root treated. The tooth is still sore. Started Erythromycin today 2 days after the Root canal. How long before they work and if they work will that be the end of it. I have one more appoinment to get the root filling finished in a month.

  1. Teeth are sore after root canal treatment, however the antibiotics should start to work within 24 hours. Erythromycin can cause a sore tongue, surprised you weren't given amoxcilin. To make sure you don't get thrush drink a probiotic drink each day until you have finished your course.

Sorry didn't think of that, my son is too.
