...bashing the opponent?

I'm waiting to hear something other than Obama can't do this, isn't experienced at that, blah, blah, blah.

I'd like to hear about the Republican's platform ONLY without referring to their opponents.

Does anyone think that on the last night of the RNC, a speech about ISSUES ONLY will come up?

Thoughts?

  1. I'm not going to hold my breath waiting for that to happen.  I was hoping, really hoping, that Palin wouldn't resort to attacking, but she did.  Now I have to wait for the debates to see what her stand is on REAL issues.

  2. Why should they Obama doesn't talk about issues.  He just say 'change'.  The issues are on the web page.

  3. Amen, brother, Amen.

  4. Not a chance.

  5. I did notice.  Am still waiting for ANY speech that mentions the word "economy".  Haven't heard it once.  It's all about surging Iraq (even though Iraq wants us out), or Obama's lack of experience...atleast he writes his own speeches (unlike Palin and McCain).

  6. I want to hear about the deficit and about how many trillion $ we owe to China. Do Americans still own America?

  7. No, Elections are seldom won on issues and the Republican know it and know they would have no chance if they ran on issues. Tonight you will hear more about McCain's personality and character, more trashing of Obama and lies about Obama and BS about how McCain/Palin are going to reform Washington DC ---

  8. They do not have the ability to positively discuss the issues, just like little georghie bush, all hat no cattle.  Karl Rove is back at his old job, you ain't seen nuttin yet.

  9. The conventions (for both parties) are just to get people excited about their candidate and blow hot air around.  They may touch on and highlight certain issues, but that really isn't the place for it, The debates are where the true issues come out.  The convemtion is just an ego-fest.

  10. The Republican 'brand' is really badly screwed up.  A goodly majority of Americans believe that the country has really been damaged by their agenda.  Their job is to convince Americans that this same agenda is going to get us out of our problems, that deficits can be cleared up with more spending and more tax cuts, that 'good government' can be achieved by accepting more bribes from lobbyists and then letting them write their own laws, that victory can be achieved in a war where we haven't made any real progress for years, that inflation is GOOD for us, that we can improve schools by continuing to defund them, etc. etc.

If I had that unenviable job, I think that rather than try to make the issues crystal clear I'd try to change the subject, to distract people.  It doesn't really -help- the Republicans to talk about issues.

  11. THANK YOU. My husband and I were saying the same thing. I'm interested in them leaving the opponent alone for a minute, and trying to get support for what they believe in. But at the moment, it doesn't look like there is anything out there.

  12. Were any of the speeches at the DNC talking solely about their issues without comparing it to the republicans?

All i've heard from them is "failed bush policies"

Palin did discuss taxes and energy last night. She was critical of Obama, but someone needs to be.

  13. Republican Kay Baily Hutchinson really helped me with my paralyzed disabled Veteran Husband. Of course McLame did not pick her a a running VP . Hutchinson may be a Republican but she also knows the issues that Americans and veterans face today . McCain picking  ambitious beauty Queen Palin shows exactly how shallow McCain really is. In fact this whole Republican campaign has been extremely self serving , shallow and down right insulting to many hard working Americans and Veterans.

  14. Republican Platform

    MONEY

    WEALTH

    GREED

    GOD

    COUNTRY

Those are their only issues what requires explaining

  15. No.  They know that they can't win, so they will use every opportunity to fling personal attacks.

Palin had the nerve to attack Michelle for her "proud of my country" remark, after Barack and Biden defended her family from critics.

It truly shows that even a former beauty contestant can leave her trash roots, but not leave the trash from her.
