Will any vcr disk work on any vcr?

I have a vcr disk giving to me and it won't play on my vcr. Arn't all of the vcr's compatable with any of the vcr disks. Also won't work on computer. WHY??

    Since you are calling it a disk and not a tape and you tried it on your computer I assume you mean a DVD and not a VHS. A VHS is a video tape.

    There are two types of DVDs. The DVD+R and DVD-R are competing formats much like the old VHS and Beta formats in video tapes. Today most drives are Hybrid and handle both formats. They are usually labeled DVD+/-R

    It is possible your DVD isn't compatible although almost all computers play either + or -R DVDs.

  2. VCRs are tapes and not disks and there are two systems one of which is PAL. Europe has a different system to N America
