My mom vomited on the rug and light leather couch. Can I use apple cider vinegar and it not stain? I don't have white vinegar on hand.

  1. If you rinse it right away I don't think it will stain.  You really will not be saturating either with the vinegar, just wiping with it.

  2. i shouldnt think so

  3. actually, i just dumped a whole bunch of apple cider vinegar on my rug this morning to get rid of my dog's late-night accident. So far no stain and that was 12 hrs ago

  4. For the couch: Gently scrape to remove solids. Mix a solution of mild soap in lukewarm water. Swish to create a great volume of suds. Apply only the foam with a sponge. Rinse well with a clean damp cloth and wipe dry. For leather only, condition with Tannery Vintage Leather Cleaner & Conditioner or Fiebing's Saddle Soap.

Or a mixture of distilled vinegar and linseed oil. GENTLY rub the mixture into the leather and then polish with a soft cloth.

    Don't scrub the leather.

For the rug:  Vinegar will work great. I'd go with distilled white though.

  5. Apple cider vinegar has a tint to it and it will stain unless you can rinse it out.  Since you can't rinse either the carpet or the leather couch, yes, it will stain.

  6. I use vinegar for odor control all the time. It will not harm your carpet or furniture because it is not caustic.
