  1. I have some cream that is supposed to be for dry, cracked heels on your feet. It contains Lidocaine 4% and Benzalkonium Chloride .13%. I put some on my sunburn and it is amazing. No pain or peeling. It is from Avon, but if you write down the ingredients I'm sure you will be able to find something similar at a drug store.

  2. In my experience, 24 hours is too long for the Vinegar to help, though it costs nothing to try it.

I've always had good luck with Aloe Vera, but it MUST be fresh.  The store bought lotions, even those that say 100% Aloe, are worthless for burns.  The Aloe Juice is sometime better, but only if fresh.

The best is to slice a few leaves from a well watered Aloe plant, split the leaves and spread the slime on.  If you aren't experiencing chills, try putting the leaves in the fridge for 10 minutes of so to chill them and you can get an immediate releif.

I have known people that swore by patting strong (cool) tea on the sunburn, but I've never tried it.

It's not Alternative medicine, but my second choice (or if I'm late to treat it or have no aloe) is always  Hydrocortisone Cream.  FWIW, some of the generic brands seem to be thicker or something and tend to hurt more when spreading on a sunburm, so I go with a name brand.

    YMMV

  3. make a baking soda paste with soda in a dish, add a little water and put on

it will dry out and fall off

    excellent remedy

  4. * Apply Aloe Vera or vinegar on the sun burnt area, as it aids in stopping inflammation.

        * Take some mustard oil and rub it on the affected area. It serves as an excellent home remedy for sunburns.

        * Rub freshly cut cucumber slices on the problematic area.

        * Apply lavender oil or peppermint oil on the sun burnt area.

        * Apply grated potato on the burnt area.

  5. OK, mix 20 drops of Lavender pure essential oil in 50 ml water and spray over your face or where ever it hurts the most (sunburned).............you'll get better in no time.............

    Good Luck

Don't put anything else on your skin while it hurts & is sore..

  6. Yes, it will still "work" but you have more than a light burn here. It will take a few days to get better. The vinegar only relieves the pain for a few minutes when it is severe, but keep using it because it is healing. You can add to the pain relief by adding about 30 drops of pure essential lavender oil (available at the health food store) to 1/4 cup vinegar. Works best in a spray but you can also put a cloth in it and dab. Don't get it in your eyes. The lavender also kills germs.

Do not use a cream (yet) or anything with oil in it. I suspect you already have and that has held in the heat and actually made your burn worse. Take a tepid shower with a mild soap or baking soda and gently get that oily substance off your skin. Then start using the vinegar mixture.

After a few days, when the pain starts to subside, you can start using oils to heal your skin. Continue with the aloe, either applying it before the cream or mixing it in.

If you have chills, fever and big blisters, consider seeing a health care provider. Don't break the blisters because the pain will increase plus you open the possibility of infection.
