Will applying for food stamps affect my financial aid? ?

I'm thinking about applying for food stamps, but I'm wondering how it will affect how much financial aid I get for college next fall. Also, on the flip side, will me getting financial aid for this fall affect my eligibility for food stamps?

  1. Food stamps will help you become eligible for more aid not less.

  2. If you get food stamps your financial aid will not be effected.

To get food stamps you have to list all income.  LOANS are not considered income, so you don't have to report them when you apply.  Grants you do.

  3. Applying for food stamps does not affect your aid and in reverse, getting aid does not affect your food stamp eligibilty.

Receiving food stamps will actually help you out as far as grant eligibility.  There is a place on the FAFSA that asks if you receive them.  Being able to check it off will allow you to bypass quite a bit of the FAFSA.
