Will bats fly into the light -- like a porch light?

i was standing out on the front steps tonight waiting for my dog to get done with her business and something huge dive bombed me. i think it was a bat. but the porch light was on -- i've always heard bats don't go into the light. i live in the woods in NW Wisconsin, so yes, bats are prevalent. i'm about to die here thinking about this.

Bats will often be seen feeding by street and porch lights...the lights draw in the insects and the bats come in to eat them.  The bat was not dive bombing you...just trying to catch a bug.
