I will arrive in Vienna for 3 nights in February. After surfing through the internet, I found out much information about Vienna and I believe 2 days would be enough to visit the sights, so was wondering if there are any daytrips available to Prague/Bratislava? I am on a limited budget so something more than 50 euro simply would not do it for me.

  1. I was in Vienna and Prague in May 2006 - and let me tell you that 2 days is not enough for either city. There is just so much to do! They both have great restaurants, pubs, museums, art galleries, wonderful cultures, etc. Between the two cities I found Vienna to be more interesting, entertaining, and charming. But then I can speak some German so I got more out of that city. Oh, by the way, the train trip from Prague to Vienna was over 5 hours long. Expect delays especially when they are doing passport checks and rail work so you may want to reconsider.

  2. Wow, I had 4 days in Vienna and still didn't get to see as much as I wanted to, I can't imagine being able to see everything in 2 days...  My wife is from Bregenz, Austria and lived 9 years in Vienna, so I had an excellent tour guide, but there was still so much more to see.  Prague is wonderful, but I really enjoyed Vienna much more.

  3. I have visited both Prague and Vienna.  I never went to Bratislava.

I enjoyed Prague much more than Vienna.

I can recommend Prague.  Have fun.

  4. Salzburg, Insbruk and Graz are all great day trips from Vienna!  But in February... there's likely to be snow in all these places... including Vienna.  Wish I could answer your question about Bratislava.  I wanted to go there when I was in Vienna but was with someone else who wanted to go to Graz instead... so we did.

  5. Prague is a bit of a trip from Vienna, Brno is right over the border from Vienna and not at all a bad place (wonderfull Cathedral)

  6. i and my friends was in vienna last summer and we did exactly like what you want , some of us went to bratislava , some to prague and some inside austria with the nature , all guys went to prague said it was perfect and they liked it very much , all went to bratislava said its the place that you go onle once through all your life and you dont wanna to go there again , and there ppl not friendly .

both prague and bratislava are very cheap

bratislava is very very very near to vienna

    so make your chioce

  7. I was born in Prague so am a bit prejudiced. Yes, you should go to Prague, although in one day you won't get to see much - and there is so much to see.
