  1. Until yesterday, probably. Now with Casino Drive on the scene, nobody really knows for sure. It's going to be hard waiting those three weeks (assuming he wins the Preakness) for the big showdown.

Interestingly enough, Casino Drive should be a very good value because Big Brown will almost surely be the huge favorite if he wins the Preakness.

Here's an article and video of the Peter Pan, which was Casino Drive's Belmont prep: http://www.ntra.com/content.aspx?id=3241...

If I had to give the tip to one horse then I'd give it to Casino Drive, given that Big Brown will be far more tired than him.

  2. to early to tell

But I would bet on a long shot !!

  3. yes...trip is his to lose...go to the bank on it

  4. I think Casino Drive will win the Belmont.  Big Brown will be coming into the race very tired.  Casino Drive has only 1 start this year, he's raced at Belmont, and his stretch run looks a lot stronger than Big Brown's.  It'll be a good race between the 2 of them, but right now, I like Casino Drive more then Big Brown.

Big Brown's strength this year is the fact that this is a pretty weak field of 3 year olds.  No one managed to gain ground in the stretch of the Derby... Eight Belles was the only one who even remotely ran with Big Brown, but she's dead now :o(  The Preakness field looks weak... only a monster performance by a closer will be able to beat Big Brown.  Kentucky Bear has made progress this year, but I'm not sure he's really up for a massive run which is what he'll need to come out on top in Baltimore.  Casino Drive looks like a great horse... he burst onto the triple crown scene yesterday in the Peter Pan.  He won easily and convincingly and in a faster time than Big Brown won the Florida Derby of the same distance.  Casino Drive is the only horse this year that looks to be a real threat to Big Brown.

  5. Assuming Big Brown wins the Preakness and his feet stay sound, Casino Drive is likely to be his toughest competition in the Belmont.

There are some questions with Casino Drive - he's green and he's only faced soft competition so far (he hasn't run against any US stakes winners yet).  I'm not sure if he's run a two-turn race yet (Peter Pan is one turn, don't know about his maiden race).

In any case, the Belmont should be an exciting race now that Casino Drive will be running.

  6. I would have said yes until Casino Drive entered the picture. Now I think it will be a real race. I would love to see a horse win the triple, but I am not sure that will happen.

  7. Big Brown appears to be the "real deal".  This colt does what needs to be done to win.  He carries himself like he's been here before.  A professional 3YO which wastes neither energy or motion.

Champions are proof of challenge.  Tests guarantee speed, stamina, and ability to carry weight over distance. What great breeders attempt is this spectacular display of beauty in motion.

Federico Tesio and Arthur "Bull" Hancock breeding are throughout the bloodlines of Big Brown.

The Triple Crown could be his piece of cake.

  8. I hope! I love Big Brown! He's so cute... he reminds me of my own horse. Plus UPS sponsored him which is why his name is Big Brown how cute!

  9. Yes

  10. Big Brown has to win the Preakness first.  He will be running against all fresh horses, and then on to the Belmont. Once again Big Brown will racing against all fresh horses. Though he may win the Triple Crown, he still has a very hard road ahead of him to capture the title

  11. The Triple Crown is the hardest thing to do in any sport. Do not assume anything in horse racing. Big Brown has bad feet. That is common knowledge. So anything can happen. I not saying Big Brown can't do it. It will take a super athlete to win any years Triple Crown. I compare winning the Triple Crown to winning the 440, then the 100 then the mile in a single Olympic. It s that tough. A horse has only one chance to do it. For those people who want to blame K. Desourmeux for losing those past Triple Crowns Shame on you. The trainers have more to do with it than anyone else.

  12. No way... Casino Drive is going to nail Big Brown and Kent Desaurmoux, just like Victory Gallop over Real Quiet and Kent Desaurmoux.   Coincidence that Desaurmoux is up on Big Brown?????

  13. There is no question in my mind that Big Brown will win the Triple Crown.  All of the competition has dissapeared and if Big Brown breezes in the Preakness there is no way that he can lose.

  14. I dont think so. But i didnt think he would win the derby either. So i dont really know.

  15. it will be a dead hit between big brown and casino drive, since both will be ridden by kent desourmeux
