  1. Products like household cleaners are probably best kept away from a hamster, or at least, moving the hamster before using the products and then putting it back half an hour later is probably best.

My first thought was YES it is harmful but the answer above is the one I got off the internet.

  2. bleach and soap can leave a residue or film. not the best thing but use it if you want to. Yes. Bleach can slowly discolor some materials quickly....some more than others.

i use plain white vinegar and hot hot hot water. vinegar is 100% harmless, it is a natural disinfectant, de-greaser and it will shine up things great. it will not make things turn a funny color. i also use a new cheapo toothbrush to scrub out the corners in the food and water cups for my birds to make sure all of the crud is removed. oh it is also a great deodorizer which will come in handy. i use about a quarter cup of vinegar to a gallon of hot steaming water. i will add extra depending on how bad my cages are. my vets have both said vinegar is very safe but if you wish you can call your own vet to verify this.

you don't have to try it if you don't want to.  best wishes! :)

  3. it will harm your hamster if you dont get all of it out.

  4. Yes, bleach will harm your hamster, the fumes, chemicals, not so good for a human. And definitely bad for a hamster. I use vinegar. It disinfects and doesn't have too much of a bad smell, and no chemicals. When cleaning your hamster cage every week, use 50%water and 50% vinegar to wash, and disinfect. It works, TRUST me.

  5. Well, its recommended to get a more mild cleaning solution.dish soap alays works.Or baby shampoo.Get a cloth using dish soap or baby shampoo.Wet it a little and start scrubbing.let it sit in water for about 5-10 minutes.then dump the water and scrub and rinse, dry. Then it should be ok.bleach is too strong for them.It might not harm them but i wouldnt risk it.Hope i helped and good luck!

  6. bleach is recommended for the use of small animal cage cleaning. as long as you rinse out all traces of it, it should be fine.

  7. no not really, but just make sure you rinse the cage well. i use bleach to clean my hamsters' tank every two week so the tank is not smelly. i recommend you to use a rag wipe the tank while you wash it with water.

for the cage i don't think that bleach can take away the color out of cage, make sure you dilute the bleach with water.
