Will blu-ray discs i buy in America play on my Sony player in the UK?

I have recently bought a blu-ray player and notice that films are cheaper in the US are they area protected like DVd's ?

  1. many newer blu-ray movies are region lock so a region A movie wont play in a region B player but still some movies doesn't have yet the region lock is matter of checking

  2. It depends what region your dvds are. some are set to certain regions and some are region free

  3. yes they are, try looking on the internet to see if there are any hacks for your machine otherwise buy a multi-region machine these will play any thing, crompton and moore sell them the cheapest starts at £90.

  4. with ps3 games it works so blurey discs will as well...

    they are the same format.

  5. Blu-ray players support region coding, and the US and UK are in different regions.

    That means that if the disk is region coded you won't be able to play US disks in a UK player.

    However, the majority of Blu-ray disks are NOT region coded. But don't chance it ... check for specific disks at the link.
