  1. No, but DVDs will play on Bluray players

Also, HD-DVD movies, in some cases, have both standard DVD and HD-DVD movies on the same disk. This is an excellent idea of course, but Bluray will be the ultimate winner of the format war, so it's probably not a good idea to invest in a bunch of HD-DVD disks and player.

  2. no they will only work on ps3 and other blue ray players

  3. No, blu-rays can't play on normal dvd players, but your 'old' dvd's can play on your blu-ray players. So if you get a BD Player, you can still watch your old dvd's on it.

  4. Blu Ray discs only play on blu ray players not regular dvd players or HD DVD players.  If you are thinking of buying one make sure you do all the research to insure you know what you are buying and what you need to buy in order to get the best picture.  If you only have a 720p tv there is no sense in getting a blu ray unless you want to go out and buy a new tv.  Plus you will have to invest in cables.  To me it is worth the money because the pictures do look amazing, then again sound and vision is important to me when I watch movies.
