  1. Yes. I've been in a lot of street fights and have studied boxing and jijitsu(spelling) in the army. While other forms of karate focus on specific moves for each type of attack boxing focuses on being in better shape, seeing a opening and hitting it hard, and getting out of the way of punches. Everyone all ways says "oh but in a street fight" but every street fight I've been in if a guy tries to grab me or charges me he leaves him self wide open. I just back up and nail him. kicks you can see coming from a mile away and they're usually focused on that leaving the chin open and they get knocked out before they knew what hit them. the army did teach me what to do if i get them in a head lock. before I would just bite them in the back and push them away to start boxing again. now I put them in a arm bar. i love that move.

  2. Yes as long as you keep it standing up because if hes good at wrestling then he has the advantage because you have to get fairly close to throw an effective punch. and if you miss or he just shakes it off then he grabs you then boxing is out the window until you can create some distance. now if hes good at kicking

then it will not be as hard as it would be if he was a wrestler if

your quick enough you can sway from most of the kicks.

  3. Street fighting is way different from ring fighting. no rules in street. But it might help you just be aware of your surroundings.

  4. It will never help you in a REAL street fight because boxers don't understand fight to kill. They also can't defend themselves against knives or brass knuckles.

  5. It depends on your adversary's approach.  If he comes at you with his fists, which is the way most street fights start, then, yes.  But if he's good at kicking, or grabs you and takes you down to the ground, then you are in no better position than if you had never been trained in boxing.

  6. if you get in a street fight you don't wanna box you wanna end the fight as fast as you can and only fight if you absolutely have to and cannot run away immediately. best moves for this situation are groin kicks, kick to the liver, punch to the throat, eye gouging, hard elbow to the face, running away, and using your cell phone to call the cops.

  7. Boxing will definitely benefit you in a street fight.

However, you have to make some modifications in order to use it in a street fight.

Don't rely on your guard to block punches.  Without gloves, you will have a harder time blocking punches.

Don't punch with your fists because you may break them on your opponent's head or elbows; or, you can break your hand or thumb just by partially missing the target and catching it halfway.  Strike with the palm-heel or hammerfist, or with forearm blocks/strikes.  In close, use elbows and knees.

Don't ever try to kick above the waist.  In fact, don't kick period, unless it's a foot-sweep or a faint towards the groin.  Kicking should only be done to unbalance your opponent and leave him vulnerable to your punches.  If you try to kick in a street fight, you will probably lose in an embarassing fashion.

Don't worry too much about someone shooting in and trying to wrestle you.  If they do that, you just do whatever is illegal in MMA - eyes, finger/wrist breaks, groin, tearing nose, lips or ears, etc.  Learn a few judo throws and you'll be OK.  Nobody will try to grapple you unless they are bigger than you or have some experience with it -- in both those cases, you can't mess around with them, you have to beat them quickly and decisively before they tear your arm off.

Offense is the best defense.  If you can throw the 1-2 quickly and accurately, you'll win most street fights.

  8. NO!! The heck with violence in the streets.  If someone knows you have the upper hand as in self defense do you honestly think they would want to fight fair?  No being able to handle yourself is good but if you abuse it  could cost you your life. Size does not matter in a street fight it's the heart who has the heart to take it all the way. Stop the VIOLENCE!!!!!!

  9. Yeah because you can learn how to take a punch and you know how to punch properly. If your a boxer you're generally in good shape too with your muscles equally spread out with not too much on any part of your body.

  10. Yes, until the guy shoots you, then the guy with the gun wins.

  11. street fights have no rules. biting, knives, kicking. it will certainly give you an edge but it depends on how big you are, after all there are weight class's in boxing for a reason
