Will can I still get into Med School?

Okay I have a 43 in my MCAT, I have had 3 yrs experience as an RN, I have volunteered for 3 yrs at a hospital, but my GPA is a 3.2. What else can I do to be accepted into Med school? My GPA is rly low b/c i messed up my freshman yr and wasn't able to get anything higher

  1. You got a 43 on the MCAT, you have a shot at getting at any university in the country. Good Job! Thats an amazing score, and puts you in the top 200 scorers this year. Even with a GPA of 3.2, such a high score will even the playing field. You simply must explain in an essay in your secondary application (even if you have to attach it to your secondary application) why your GPA is so low, what caused you to change, and what you learned from the experience.


  2. A 43 on the MCAT may get an adcom to look at your application.  A GPA of 3.2 isn't necessarily a deal killer, but it's going to make you borderline.  If it is just your first year courses bringing your overall GPA down you stand a fairly good chance.  Adcoms are fairly tolerant of freshmen acting out.  But if you can, repeating those courses will certainly increase your chances.
