I have a contract with virgin media till December 2008

I currently moved house and was shocked to here they cannot reconnectt me cos there was someone else in the same building using virgin media cable

They ,also told me even though i am not using the phone and internet i would still continue paying for it

My next move now is to cancel the direct debit with my bank will that affect my credit rating and will they take me to court for not paying their money?

  1. It's probably not worth suing for.  They'll probably sell it to a collector, who will put it on your credit report.  IT won't hurt you that much if it's the only bad thing on the report, but it could cause you to pay 1/4 to 1/2 % more on your next auto loan if you borrow in the next couple of years.  You should be able to cancel because their reconnection problem is not your problem.

I admit I'm puzzled because I don't see what somebody else in the bulding has to do with you.  My daughter lived in a building with multiple subscribers.  Maybe the local contractor just doesn't want to because he'd have to run some more cable.

  2. If you default on a contract you signed, yes, that will likely affect your credit.

  3. Write to them stating that you consider they have defaulted on the Contract by not provinding the services you are paying for and seeking compensation.
