Will candle wax help improve the grip on my hockey stick?

i wanna increase the grip on the tape on the blade but i have no special wax for this, could i just use candle wax?

candle wax doesn't work.. it absorbs more water .. s*x WAX is what you need. played hockey 15 years. i would know
