Will car rental places know the difference between a pre-paid credit card and?

a major credit card. I want to rent a car in Cozumel Mexico and i was just told over the phone that it has to be a major credit card. Well, some pre-paid cards don't even say its prepaid and i want to know if i can get away with that. If you have done it before what card did you use and is there anyone you know of that will except my debit card with the visa logo on it.

as long as you have the funds on the card you should have no problem. i booked a rental car and hotel with my prepaid when i went to Vegas and had no problem at all. just try anyway, whats the worst that could happen? they say no.
