  1. It's not a good idea but a diesel engine will.

  2. idkk

  3. It really depends on the compression ratio, original fuel type and kerosene to fuel mix. I would say don't try it unless you have no other choice. The manufacturer's intended fuel (gasoline, diesel, ethanol, biodiesel, whatever it may be) is the best choice.

  4. Yes cars will run quite successfully on kerosene. The only reason the modern engine doesn't is the compression ratio is too high. Some early tractors ran on kerosene. The Ford model T and A would run on it. I remember as a kid 50 years ago, we had a Ford model A and it had a leaking fuel tank and when dad went to use it to go town it would be out of petrol so he would drain the kero heater to get to the nearest gas station. Little more smoke than usual but ran ok.

  5. If you mean cars that run on gasoline, then the answer is No. Gasoline engines (internal combustion engines) cannot cope up with a dense fuel such as kerosene. The density of kerosene is about 15% more than gas.

Gasoline is more volatile and it can be combustible at normal pressures. Also the combustion of Kerosene requires high pressures. The fuel injection systems are calibrated to take a low viscosity fuel like gas.

Hence in some countries, gas engined cars are being run on alternative lighter fuels such as Liquified Petroleum Gas (LPG) or CNG (Compressed Natural Gas) without major modification to the engines as LPG is a cleaner and cheaper alternative to Gasoline.

  6. Yes but they are hard to start and do not run well.
