Question:

Will cedar keep bed bugs away?

My girlfriend and I will be having the bed bug exterminator come this Fri and do his trick.

it is a huge pain in the butt (our entire life is in plastic garbage bags which will be doused with bed bug poison)

We really don't want a repeat of this, so we want to take every precaution to ensure these little buggers don't even think of coming back here.

One of the things we are probably going to do is put cedar blocks in our closets. I am thinking that will keep them away (they never seemed to like the closets anyway)

Think this will work? Any other things that will keep them away after the exterminator comes?

  1. There is this stuff out there called Precor.  I bought it online and they say its what professionals use.  You spray it all over you mattresses (especially in the seams), curtains, cloth-like furniture, every inch of your carpet (meaning you may have to move furniture to spray).  It comes in small bottles; pour that into a gallon of water and shake it well, then into a spray bottle.  It works good and it keeps the fleas away.  That's the reason i bought it.

  2. Try getting rid of the bed and sleeping on the floor

  3. You didn't see them in your closet much because you weren't in your closet much. They are after you after all. Cedar will do nothing. You can spray the carpet and other surfaces with neem oil. That has proven effective.
