Will changing my router channel...?

mess up my connections on my computers. I have a Linksys WRT54GS router and i need to change the router channel to 1 or 11 to get a better connection for my Wii. but i need to know if it will mess up all my computers connections in the process?

  1. It should not s***w anything up.

    If however, you used wireless adapter configuration software that requires you to specify what channel the signal is on, then you will have a problem.

    If you are using the standard Windows wireless configuration tool, you'll be fine.


  2. Whatever computer is hardlined to your router is the one you should use to change the channel.  Follow the instructions on the Linksys website.

    On the computers that connect wirelessly you will need to rescan and add/edit your wireless profiles on those machines and change the channel to connect on(typically the "Rescan" button).  The router still has the mac addresses of the wireless cards (in the computers) that are attached to router, so there is no need to reconfigure your access controls for those computers.

  3. Certainly Not! when you change the channel on your router it will just be improving the signal strength there's no reazon why it should mess up any connections at all. but to be on the safe side reboot your pcs

  4. You just need to reconnect to the router because it will disconnect you.
