  3. SISTER I DON'T KNOW IF IT WILL INVALID YOUR FAST BUT ACCORDING TO ISLAM Q AND A THIS IS A BAD HABIT, PLEASE READ BELLOW FOR DETAILS.

She has the bad habit of nail biting

This is one question which i think will help many of your clients..im a nail biter, and a chronic one too. no matter how hard i try, i havent been able to give up this awful habit.

Ive heard that nail biting is deeply disliked in Islam, but nobody has been able to give me any substantive reasoning to prove this.

Can you please guide me here?.

    Praise be to Allaah.

The doctors say that the phenomenon of nail biting among children is connected to psychological problems. If you have had this problem since you were small, then we advise you to consult a psychologist whom you trust with regard to his religious commitment and knowledge.

From the point of view of sharee’ah:

Islam brought the best of attitudes and habits, and forbids bad attitudes and habits. This habit – nail biting – is disliked by most people and they regard it as a bad habit. This is in addition to the physical harm that it may do, because of the dirt that collects under the fingernails and the damage that this may do to the nails and teeth.

Hence you should make yourself stop this habit. That may be difficult in the beginning, but you will get used to it and it will become a habit after that. This is the case with all good attitudes that a person can make himself do until they becomes a habit and second nature for him. As the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said, “Knowledge comes by learning and patience comes by making oneself be patient.” classed as hasan by al-Albaani in Saheeh al-Jaami’, 2328.

    And Allaah knows best.

    Islam Q&A

  4. if you dont eat the nails lol:P

    than it won't.

  5. no, but dont put things in your mouth, Allah, swt, doesnt like that.

  6. When you chew something you cannot avoid ingesting a little bit of it. This would break your fast. If you are making an analogy that you are "eating yourself" as with saliva then you should recognize that you cannot eat humans. Also gum and toothpaste break your fast but you do not try to swallow them it gets in your saliva like parts of your nails would.

  7. Ofcourse not, Just try to keep from swallowing your nails but I dont think that should be a problem.

  8. while islamically it is a nasty habit that is disliked, it wont break your fast. sometimes people chew on their lip, on the inner cheek, and in turn will swallow the skin or something, but like your saliva, it is from you so it cant break the fast, wa Allahu alim

  9. u should avoid putting things in ur mouth

  10. i think no

but you should try to leave this habit try to doing other work when you want to nail bitting
