1998 honda accord ex v6 coupe. mechanic said ac compressor and accumulator needs to be replaced.

its okay for me without the cold air but i want the heater to work during winter.

is there any way that i can just replace the noisy compressor pulley or ac clutch?

because it makes that grinding noise when i drive even if the aircon is off. and rattling sound when the car is in idle.

  1. Yes, the climate control will work without the a/c. I don't think you can just replace the compressor pulley though (mayby you can on your car though) Mayby you can find a used a/c compresser at a junk yard or something for cheap?

  2. Your heater will still work.  However, you won't get any benefit in defrost mode since the Air conditioning needs to function to remove humidity from inside the vehicle ( stops fogging on the windshield ).  I believe I responded to a previous post of yours.  Sounds like you may be able to get away with replacing the pulley/coil/clutch set and get your a/c working.  Depending, of course, on what's actually wrong.  But, that's what it sounds like.

  3. just try if not find another soulution.
