  1. All of that is kept private, it doesnt get reported or have anything to do with your credit. unemployment is to help people who need it and cant find a job-not to punish you by reporting it on your credit.

And when you file for unemployment they send you a debit card the money get deposited directly onto the card OR if you are really private into your bank account. Also if you file for unemployment-ask the work center if they will help pay for training(schooling or for the academy-they really do try to help people who are trying to help themselves. You have nothing to lose!

Good Luck with finding a job as a cop ; )

  2. Unemployment isn't credit. So it doesn't go on your credit report. The only thing that can hurt your credit report is not paying your bills.

I don't understand how you can collect unemployment though, especially in PA. In order to get unemployment, your employer has to pay into the state unemployment insurance fund for you. Does the military pay into unemployment? And you cant just decide what state to collect in. It has to be the state that you worked in. And you can't collect unemployment if you were VOLUNTARILY terminated. Like if you just decided not to reenlist. That was your decision, and you don't get unemployment for that. Unemployment is for when you are involuntarily out of work.

  3. I really dont think unemployment would ruin your credit nor do I believe it affects your credit in any way.  I am interested in how others might answer this question though because I dont know for sure.

  4. hello - it will not in any way affect your credit.  i have never heard of employers asking that in the past, but perhaps they do, and then you can be honest and say that yes, when you left the military (thanks for the service BTW) you did as you were unable to find work in PA.  however, if they do a credit check on you they will not see it.  good luck -

  5. yes they do look at that info, but it doesnt (shouldnt) affect your ability to recieve any kind of credit. be it auto, home, etc. they look at that stuff as part of your job history and the length of time you collect the "easy check" will affect their opinion of said history. considering your circumstances, you should be fine. i dont know the employment climate is in your area, but if it is similar to what im familiar with, there should be the lowly gas jockey and supermarket jobs that could pass the time more productively. (just dont let the manager know about your plans to seek better employment later! tell them you just want something more stress free than your previous "job".)                                                                                 P.S. thank you for your 4 years of service. regardless of what your duty was. it means a lot to some of us at home. some people take it for granted and its a shame. congrats on soon returning home and feel thankful you dont have to live in and out of the V.A. like some of our brothers. semper fi!

  6. ~~It will not hurt anything on your credit. Unemployment is drawn from a fund you paid into, and is meant to be used while you are unemployed. As long as you stay current on your bills, then unemployment will not affect future jobs, credit, mortgages, etc.~~
