Question:

Will colleges accept my diploma even though I was home schooled?

I live in Ohio, and homeschooling, then going to college has never been a probably. But my mom told me that some colleges now aren't accepting homeschoolers diplomas. Instead, they're making homeschoolers get a GED. Is this true? I'm graduating this year and I want to make sure I can get into college next fall.

  1. I HAVE HEARD THAT BEFORE,..

    I WOULD SUGGEST YOU CHOOSE

THE COLLEGE THAT YOU WANT TO

    ATTEND,...SPEAK WITH SOMEONE

AHEAD OF TIME AT THAT PARTICULAR COLLEGE,...

    WEB SEARCH  PENN FOSTER COLLEGE,...

YOU CAN ATTEND COLLEGE ON-LINE AND OR RECEIVE YOUR

COLLEGE MATERIALS,... BOOKS,... ECT,..BY MAIL,....YOU CAN

EVEN GET YOUR HIGH SCHOOL DIPLOMA AS WELL,...

THERE ARE MANY COLLEGES THAT YOU CAN ATTEND

ON LINE,..WHERE THE DIPLOMA THAT YOU EARN IS ACCEPTED

    NATIONALLY,.......BEST WISHES,....

  2. No colleges accept diplomas, they accept transcripts. This is proof that you have done all your work, it is kinda like a report card. Your mom, if she is the one that homeschools you should know how to make one. And if a college makes you take the GED then leave, they don't deserve your money, because you have a education

  3. I think they'll take you without the GED, especially if you have a good application and a good ACT/SAT.  But find the catalog of the specific college online, and look up the part where they tell what qualifications incoming freshmen should have.  Or even call the registrar's office and ask if the GED is necessary or the homeschool diploma will do.

  4. Most colleges are homeschool-friendly, and will accept your parent-issued diploma.  In addition, many colleges recruit homeschoolers.  Plus, some colleges, like Harvard and Stanford, don't even require that applicants have a high school diploma.

No need to take the GED.  Instead, take the achievement test(s), such as the SAT, ACT, etc, depending on the requirements of the college(s) to which you apply.

    All the best.

  5. There have always been some colleges that required a GED if you didn't have a diploma. The vast majority in the US don't require a diploma or a GED--they have other things they want for admission, like SAT or ACT scores or an admission's essay or other.

If you want to be really sure, just contact some colleges. Ask them what their admissions requirements are for homeschoolers. With information direct from them, you know you'll have the right info.
