Will colombia ever host the soccer world cup? or the olympics?

just wondering cause colombia has never hosted something big on sports

Colombia has gotten much better and would be able to host a world cup or the summer olympics. I could see it happening in the next 25 years.

Colombia was given the 1986 World Cup but because of infrastructure issues and the reality of having very little income to work with (the 1983 Earthquake in Popayan did not help either) Colombia had to give it up and was eventually given to Mexico in 1984....

If FIFA has trusted in giving Colombia the World Cup in the past and the way things are looking in Colombia in terms of our internal conflict, I would say there is a possibility of us holding the World Cup sometime in the future if the country feels they can hold it. Currently only the Stadium in Baranquilla and Bogota meet the stadium standards, so it will be a lot of work.

As for the Olympics, it must be Summer and its always done in one city and I am not sure if Cali or Medellin (Bogota wouldn't be allowed because some would complain about the altitude) can handle such an event on its own. Medellin would be the best option with their transportation system and infrastructure perhaps better suited. But I don't see it in the near future....
