  1. They should lift it!  Look how much crude went down after Bush liffted his ban on drilling...over 10.00 in 2 days!!  That was not a fluke!  If congress lifted the ban that would show a the rest of the world we are serious about becoming oil independent.

That, inturn, means speculators are thinking  that there may be a chance we will be drilling...which means that speculators are speculating that the price of oil will be lower in the future because of more production here in America.  Its a no brainer!!   That would bring crude down very fast!!!

We will not see crude fall immediately by drilling.  We will see a huge fall because speculators will have to bring price of crude down to make money.

  2. Yes, or the dems will suffer as more, many more people, want drilling started. Republicans will go with Bush, at least most. Pres Bush has squarely put the monkey on Congress's back. That is a very good thing. Personally I would like to request that they begin drilling operations in my back yard. I don't live on the coast but I still might have oil and I guarantee that we have no tree huggers here to protest. Maybe 3 or 4 wells here.   X marks the spot............

  3. I hope so. I know the oil won't be available for several years, but if we had started in 2002, after 9/11, it would be available now. Maybe then we wouldn't be over 4 bucks a gallon. Even if all it does is buy us a little more time, that's still good. More time to work on all-electric cars like the Tesla Roadster, only more affordable versions that the average Joe Buttcrack can afford.

  4. Congress is a majority of Democrats, so my answer is NO they will not support offshore drilling.  Remember, they are opposed to anything that will make America or Americans self sufficient.

Just look at their symbol.  That says it all.

  5. I doubt it. Right now- nobody's giving Bush, the Time Of Day... He's just keeping His seat in the Oval Office sweaty... :(

  6. Yes. The political cost of not doing so would be too great.

  7. It is by no means obvious that they are smart enough to do so.  After all, a majority are Democrats.

  8. No, they won't.

But they sure as heck should.

  9. Only if they want to be re-elected.

  10. Why? Will this make the price of gas decrease? You're a moron if you think so. People are so preoccupied with the lowering of price of gas. This will not happen.

  11. It already goes on. Anyone who has traveled out to the Gulf of Mexico will see literally hundreds of oil drilling rigs offshore. The reason it was banned in some areas was because there were too many oil leaks. I can recall frequently stepping into gobs of tar when I walked along beaches in Southern California in the 1960s.

  12. No, Congress will not lift the ban, at least not in the near future. This additional drilling would not make a significant change in the global oil market. Besides, we need this oil "emergency" to get us off our butts and do something  about the real crisis looming a few decades down the road. Then, when things are REALLY bad, not just $4/gallon gasoline, we have offshore and Alaska as our reserves. We need to think long-term on this which I think Congress is doing. Unfortunately Bush is more interested in the short-term financial success of the oil industry folks with whom he has such close ties.

  13. I don't know if they will or not but I hope they do. I'm for anything that might lower these gas prices, not to mention all the new jobs this will create.
