Will digital over the air broadcast have static?

I mean the c**p on the screen and will it come in as good a directv picture and sound wise

  1. It depends on how far you are from the TV stations' transmitters and how good an antenna you have. Assuming you live in a metropolitan area, without extensive hills and valleys, chances are good that you can get excellent reception. Enter your address into antennaweb to see what stations you get and what kind of antenna you'll need.

    Assuming you get a good signal, over the air stations will probably look BETTER than DirecTV. It will not look worse. The satellite and cable companies pick up the signals from the TV stations. There's nothing that they can do to make the signals look better, and all kinds of things they can do to make it look worse.

    Digital TV reception problems won't result in static of the kind you're used to on analog TV. Instead, as the signal gets degraded, you'll first start to see fuzzy blocks start to appear, or picture freezing. Eventually the picture will disappear completely, usually replaced with a blank blue screen.

    The digital signal will be better quality than analog (Obviously). It's not going to be HD like Direct TV is, however i'm sure your cable service provider will offer that as an option.
