Question:

Will dressing up and getting ready in the morning make a difference in the way my employer views me?

I'm not saying I go to work wearing rags. I wear decent clothes, but I don't put on too much makeup or spend nearly anytime on my hair (I brush it, I just don't blow dry it, style it, etc.). Will this make any difference in my employer's view of me or how good of an employee they'll see me as? Is it better to overdress for a job?

  1. Dress for the job you WANT, not the job you've GOT!

So, yes -- it is worthwhile to present yourself in a professional manner at all time if you are trying to get ahead in the workplace.

  2. it will affect how your boss sees you.  thats just the way it is.  you should try to look very nice at work.  just make sure you are very put together.  you dont need to overdress, just look professional.  look as though you spent some time getting ready

  3. The advice I've always heard is to dress for the job you WISH you had.  So...yes, spend some time on yourself.  It will not only make a difference in how your employer and his/her clients view you, but it will make a difference in how you feel about yourself.

  4. You don't have to necessarily overdress for the job.  But it wouldn't hurt to put a little more effort into your appearance.
