I drive a 2000 Honda Civic. The muffler fell off while I was driving it in the middle of the street. I'm wondering how long can I drive it without getting a new muffler and is not having a muffler doing any damage to it.

  1. no, but you'll get a ticket for sure

  2. IT MAY OVER A PERIOD OF TIME, DEPENDING ON CITY CODES AS PER NOISE IT MAY INJURE YOUR POCKET BOOK!

  3. No muffler does not really cause a problem. What you should worry about is the local cops pulling you over for loud pipes, carbon monoxide infiltration to the drivers cabin. Get a new one as soon as you can afford to.

    Good luck!

  4. It will not damage the car, but it might damage your reputation with your neighbors.

  5. Carbon Monoxide is bad. You can feel all warm and fuzzy and next thing be sound asleep. Happens all the time. Even if you have to get an onsale wonder and get the exhaust out in back of the car. This is very sneaky stuff. I've driven enough taxis with the window open in winter just to stay awake.

  6. Not having a complete exhaust system (missing muffler) could cause toxic fumes to enter the car and that's unhealthy and potentially dangerous. Plus hot exhaust could be blowing on something that it shouldn't. Plus you don't want to be the jerk/dork/trashy person driving around without a muffler!
