  1. Yes they ovulate even if the egg is not fertile. And they will set on chicken eggs or billiard balls if they are placed in the nest. It is a very strong instinct.


  2. Yes, they will. I have a duck sitting on eggs now. The last batch only two were fertile. I'm hoping a few more are fertile on this go round. Also, even if they're fertile, problems can arise in setting that can cause the egg to die so you might want to candle them now and again just to be sure.
