good question! it wud make so much more sense if the whole world did it at the same time!  the sattelite pics would be soo impressive!

It will be 8 to 9pm on March 29th local time.

When you watch the world map, you will see the timezones will progressively go through blackouts... the first being +12

They made it 8 - 9pm  local time on March 29th because...

1. Local time means that 8-9pm everywhere will be dark... whereas having some countries have their lights out during the day would not solve the problem as they probably already have their lights out.

2. March 29th is a good date because all countries have 12 hours of sunlight, and 8 to 9pm will be dark everywhere (whereas in summer, night might not have fallen yet).

It's nice to see people taking part in Earth Hour. Stay enviro-friendly even after Earth Hour...

Banking time only! making business is what its all about, profit and gain, the rest is down the drain. Enviromental issues scare people, ice melting, seas rising etc, and as long as fear is generated & manipulated, it sells and is a multibillion dollar industry, promoted by the media. Their previous caper was the Mellinium bug netting billions of dollars to computer companies for what? Now its environment, whats next! End of the world. It all sells where you buy junk on line and shrink your credit card as your pockets dry up: business as usual lad or scam!.
