Will eating like this make a person lose a lot of weight?

If you go all day without eating anything, and then eating a big meal (healthy and not healthy foods) around 8 P.M., will you lose weight? Along with exercising everyday?

It's not me that's doing this by the way. No lectures on how this is an unhealthy way of eating.

  1. no it will not help you lose weight.  your metabolism is like an engine.... it needs fuel.  food is that fuel.  all day this persons metabolism will be at a stand still.  they will actually gain weight eventually because the body will think its starving and will begin to store any calories it can find as FAT.  tell this person it will not work

  2. Yes..it will!! It's not healthy of course..but it will! I work two jobs so I don't get to eat till about 11 or 12 at night..and I eat big at those times. I went from 210 lbs to 151 lbs in about 5 1/2 months.I do drink a lot of coffee to curb the hunger through out the day. So..yes..cause I have tried it..it does work. But keep  mind, you get dizzy and headaches at first because your body is not used to it. I see it as a eating disorder, but..This is just my opinion.

  3. Won't happen.  When you don't eat all day, your body goes into "starvation mode" and slows down the metabolism to assist in life support and to maintain and store fat.  I kid you not.  The metabolism would be so slow, that it would take a much longer time to use up the calories that were ingested and weight would be gained.

  4. LOL I think Pat has the most convincing reason why this won't work.

  5. Thats funny that you say this.  This is actually how Sumo Wrestlers eat so they gain weight.  They only eat 1 huge meal in the day to slow down there metabolism.  Then they eat it before they go to sleep to slow down there metabolism even more.  If you want to be a Sumo Wrestler your doing the right thing!

  6. No ... if they person does this everyday, their body is going to start storing fat, and when this happens it will just be much harder to lose weight, this is causing for the person to gain more weight... tell the person they should be eating at least 3-4 times a day... small amounts of course. The person should eat til he/she is satisfied not until they get full... the healthier they eat, the more chance of losing weight because they are feeding their metabolism... of course exercising will help their metabolism and the higher the metabolism the more muscle they gain, and the more muscle they gain the better chance to lose weight. even when they are resting their metabolism will still be working.

  7. Whoever is doing that isn't smart, like not even a little bit. It's not even just the fact that it's killing the person, it'd be more beneficial for weight loss to eat junk all day than this.

Your body would eat itself in muscle tissue and conserve fat, then when they ate normal again, they'd gain all of the weight that they ate very quickly.

  8. no.....it won't

  9. This will make a person lose weight initially, then it will actually do the opposite and make them put weight on. It puts the body into starvation mode, so whoever is doing this will start storing everything they eat as fat. The best way to lose weight diet-wise is to set a healthy balanced diet with a reasonable calorie limit, and spread the intake out into 5-6 small meals over the course of the day.
