Will expired baking soda have any effect on cleaning?

The baking soda I have expired last year..

I can't go out to buy one today, and I need to mix it with water and lemon juice to disinfect my bird cage.

Will the baking soda still work well?

It will probably still work but it will maybe lose some of its disenfectant energy lol.

The baking soda should still have its lightly abrasive quality and should work well enough to clean your bird cage completely with lemon juice.  Just cause its expired, doesn't mean it won't work, its just its optimum is passed.  I would not use it for baking or cooking recipes though.  Other than that, should work fine!  Hope this helps you with your cleaning chore!  Good luck!
