Will films play in HD using a DVD-R?

Bassicly i was just wondering that if i were to download an episode of lost lets say in 720p it will be about 1.09GB so if i burn this to a standard 4.7 GB DVD-R then put the disc into my 360 will it then play it in 720p, I do have a tv which can go up to 1080i, I am forced to have to do this as my main HD computer is having problems at the mo

No it will not.  A standard dvd player can only output 480i or 480p if is has a progressive output setting.
