Will fishing near kids scare the fish off?

If I'm fishing from the lakeshore, while my kids are playing in the water at the edge nearby, will it scare away the fish out where I'm casting? Or will the fish even notice? If it matters, it'll be trout.

  1. It'll definitely spook them. Trout are pretty fidgety. Best ta' have the kids some distance from ya' but, not to far where one can't keep a protective eye out for them. "Fish On" to ya' and hope it works out with you and the kids ;)... < ' ( (( > <

  2. well i'm not a big trout fisherman but it fish that are near your kids will be scared off and will probably not come back for a couple of hours...maybe even a day or two! so i suggest let your kids swim and all just fish far enough away that the fish cant hear them but close enough that you can still keep an eye on your kids. :) hope i helped you out and good luck fishing!

  3. not really. fish dont hear well whats above the surface. it may distract you tho.

  4. I have to agree with FishSteelHead on this one, trout are one of the worst fish for being spooked easily, with various other fish the same, you're chances of catching will be reduced, also its not a good idea to let children play around where you fish due to the dangers of casting, hooks, knives etc.

  5. It will spook fish a little bit from where they originally were. in the case of trout, they will be very afraid and will move quickly

  6. Yes the kids will scare the fish off, so just enjoy the time with your children.
