If we have nothing but hardwood floors, will the fleas get into our clothes? We do not even have much furniture, just a futon, our bed, and a computer chair are the only upholstery in the house. My daughter has lots of stuffed animals. So if I wash all the bed clothes, spray the matress & couch with flea killer will that be good enough. Do I need to wash the stuffed animals & all our clothes? The problem is not too bad, I noticed the fleas & made the dog stay outside & the next night I got bit by one flea. Today I have not noticed any, but I do not want to wait to see & then it get real bad.

  3. There is over the counter lice spray you can get at  walmart for 3 bucks it will work for this too.  You can spray the furniture.  Wash the clothes in hot water if you can and yes they can get into the vclothes.  They only live as long as they have a host to live on.  Skin so soft by avon will keep they fleas at bay on the dog.  It won't hurt it.  Stuffed animals if small should be washed.  If unable to wash keep in a garbage bag for About two weeks to make sure.

  11. Yea, you have taken appropriate measures, and continue it for sometime

  12. wash all sheets and clothes but i think the stuffed animals are fine unless your daughter carries them around a lot

  13. no. advantix for the dog

  14. Based on the following information, I would clean anything that could harbor flea larvae or eggs... Overhaul the house - Especially as the offspring are shy of light and will hole up anywhere there is dark nooks and crannys (including stuffed toys, bedsheets and clothes, cracks in hardwood flooring, cracks along the edge of your baseboards...etc)

The flea life cycle begins when the female lays after feeding. Adult fleas must feed on blood before they can become capable of reproduction. Eggs are laid in batches of up to 20 or so, usually on the host itself, which easily roll onto the ground. As such, areas where the host rests and sleeps become one of the primary habitats of eggs and developing fleas. The eggs take around two days to two weeks to hatch.

Flea larvae emerge from the eggs to feed on any available organic material such as dead insects, f***s and vegetable matter. They are blind and avoid sunlight, keeping to dark places like sand, cracks and crevices, and bedding. Given an adequate supply of food, larvae should pupate within 1-2 weeks. After going through three larval stages they spin a silken cocoon. After another week or two the adult flea is fully developed and ready to emerge from the cocoon.

Combating a flea infestation in the home takes patience as for every flea found on an animal there are many more developing in the home. A spot-on insecticide, such as Advantage, Frontline or Revolution will kill the fleas on the pet and in turn the pet itself will be a roving flea trap and mop up newly hatched fleas. The environment should be treated with a fogger or spray insecticide containing an insect growth regulator, such as pyriproxyfen or methoprene to kill eggs and pupae, which are quite resistant against insecticides. Frequent vacuuming is also helpful, but you must immediately dispose of the vacuum bag afterwards.

Diatomaceous earth can also be used as an effective home flea treatment in lieu of acetylcholinesterase inhibitory treatments or insecticides which carry with them a risk of poisoning for both humans and animals. Diatomaceous earth absorbs lipids from the cuticle, the waxy outer layer of insects' exoskeletons, causing them to dehydrate and can be purchased at most gardening suppliers or online. It can then be evenly distributed around the house (especially in corners and near furniture) with any type of shaker (salt shaker, spice shaker, etc.) and then vacuumed away after about 7 days. Diatomaceous earth also has the added benefit of killing many other types of insects that might be residing in your house.

Borax is sold as a "Natural Laundry Booster" and can also be used as another home treatment for flea infestations. Borax contains boric acid which kill fleas by dehydrating them

  15. I'm sure it's possible but what seamstress would sew clothing that small?

  16. hmmm... you might want to put the stuffed animals in some kind of secluded area like a box, just to protect your daughter when she plays with them, also check them before you put them away, and try putting your clothes in a draw they cant penetrate through that.  you might also want to see someone about properly insulating your house if they're coming from outside, and give the dog a flea bath.  good luck
