  1. Yes, it will. But it won't teach you to control your opponent and keep him on the ground when you get him there.

Also, remember to keep your hands up and protect your face.

  2. It's a good supplement, but the karate training is still

    more important.

  3. Depending on the position you play in football. Being a quaterback or receiver isn't going to help you, because your job is to avoid people.

A lineman though would be a great help. You build incredible leg and torso strength which helps alot with grappling.

The working out and conditioning would also help your karate.

And, unless I'm wrong, but footbal can help you learn to use your abdomen and arms to knock someone to the ground, because you really don't need to keep them down in karate, just get them to the mat. ( I could be wrong however, I haven't taken it)

The only other high school aged sport I would recommend before football would be wrestling.

  4. Tackling fuel. Yes when it comes to blowing people over, football offers good training, but once your on the ground you are going to find there isn't much you'll learn in football.

  5. not at all.  Tackling a guy and doing a proper take down are totally different.  The strength aspect of it is ok but there is skill and timing in grappling arts that need to be practiced in repetition to create muscle memory.  also its not a good supplement because once you are on the ground you have no technique.  thats my opinion anyway.  have trained in mma and ju jitsu

  6. Football probably won't help grappling, but grappling would almost certainly help football, If youre a defensive player or a lineman.
