Will forgetting to take you antidepressants for one day mess you up?

I somehow forgot to take my AD meds (Pristiq) yesterday and I am feeling lower then low. The depression is so strong right now that I'm getting feelings of suicide...that it will fix this feeling.

I really don't think so my medication(zoloft) says it's okay if you miss a day. Check your prescription or call your doctor, you should be fine. Maby your making yourself sick by thinking that. Sort of like an anxiety attack.  So just check it all out.

missing one pill shouldn't do anything.

if you are feeling like that after just missing one, you better see your doctor now!

missing one dose should not affect you, just don't double your next dose unless your told to.if i forget mine I'm ill by afternoon headache,sickness and feel dizzy plus i feel like I'm in a black box,maybe your body is reacting to missing your dose just take next dose but ring your cpn or doc or your support worker its important to talk about your feelings.

missing one day shouldn't mess you up that much, i would tell my doctor, but for now please call --216-623-6888, this is the suicide hot line in cleveland, ohio.they will get you through the weekend till you can call your doctor. if this doesn't help then go to the emergency room and they will help you. hang in there it will get better. =)

To be honest, most medications have long half-lives.  This means they take a while to build up in the bloodstream, and they take awhile to go away.  It could be a placebo effect that's making you feel bad.

Remember, don't EVER stop taking your meds suddenly without consulting a psychiatrist.  It could really mess you up, believe me.

It is rare that missing one daily dose would have such impact on you.

It is more likely however that could happen if you have only been taking it a short while and in very low doses.

It could be coincidental that you are showing symptoms after missing one dose.

It is a documented side effect that you may have thoughts of suicide when you first start taking it , especially if you are younger than 24 years old.

If you consumed any alcoholic beverages last night that would most likely be the cause of waking up with the blues, like their is a black cloud over everything and an physical aching in your chest.

If that is the case the symptoms most likely resolve themselves in a couple days.

If you did not consume any alcohol then please take yourself to urgent care right now, these feelings can too easily spiral out of control.

Regardless of the potential causes if you begin to actually evaluate ways in which to end your life then GO to urgent care or the ER right then and there, NOW.

I know it seems like the feeling you are having with never go away.

But trust me they will, don't lose hope.

If you need help get it, if you simply cannot muster up any hope keep in mind it is harder to kill yourself then one would think.

The chances of you damaging yourself permanently are much higher then succeeding.
