  1. No.  According the latest statistics, you'll find plenty of opportunities nationwide; keep in mind that in your specific area jobs may be tight.  The reason you'll find elementary teaching positions is basically twofold: most college graduates opt for more money in other fields and most college graduates do not want to work with children.


  2. I was lucky to get a job. None of the people I graduated college with got teaching jobs. My mom is a teacher and for every opening they get 500 applicants. A person with a special ed. degree has a better chance of getting a job.

  4. if you're qualified, I don't think it'll be a problem.
