  1. one can never tell with the way things are going and if the Fed doesn't stop devaluing the US by printing more and more with no basis to hold it to. Bring back the gold standard I say, with gold being the price it is, US currency would stand on its own.

    The value is too volitile for a country to base their economy on.

    A country issues a $50 gold coin. It has $50 worth of gold. For some reason the price of gold goes up making the price of the $50 coin $100. People horde the coins and sell them. The country doesnt have any $$ to pay bills with and they cant make $50 bills out of $100 worth of gold so they start printing paper money in addition to the gold coins that are out there. The more money they print to keep their head above water the higher inflation goes. Its a never ending circle
