I bought grass seeds last year and have a bunch left over. Do the seeds die or should they be ok for use this year?

  1. All the old timer farmers used to keep grass seed in the house attics for several years, then still used it, and it grew.  My Dad said it was because he knew the women would know if there was a mouse in the house.  Go ahead, they will grow fine.

  2. Hi Bob, I received a large bag of grass seed from a builder friend who had it for 2 years. I moved house 2 years ago and recently used the seed on my 2 lawns and within weeks it came up beautiful. So that was 4 year old grass seed and it was OK.

  3. They are designed to last far longer than a year

  4. The grass seed is still good provided it remained dry.

Grass seed will keep for a pretty long time if you keep it cool and dry.

  5. AS long as it was kept dry you should be good to go! Grass seed isn't cheap! Use what you have for sure!

  6. If they were kept dry..they should be fine
