i have been growing chives quite successully for some months; they are lengthy and vibrantly green. but i see they are supposed to flower decoratviely. Is it too early in the year, or is it that the conditions are not right? Also, I heard that if you chop them back they will regrow, but that has not hapenned with the shoots I have snipped.

  1. Chives should bloom if they are given the right photoperiod.  In my experience with chives outdoors, they bloom in summer so long day, short nights should do it.  Make sure they get good sunlight for most of the day.

  2. you should try testing the strain outside as well. If they flower outdoors and not indoors then maybe theres a variable you are missing : sunlight, beneficial bugs, proper o2...

Then if they arent flowering during the proper season outdoors then you may have another problem.
