Will having a passport card or passport reduce the likelyhood of being randomly searched at customs?

I am considering getting the new US Passport Card. I live in Michigan near Canada. Will having a US Passport or US Passport Card reduce chances of being searched or is that totally random?

  1. It is random, and soon everyone going through customs will have to have a passport so there will be no difference.
