I have parakeets at my dad's house it's rodent free but i'm thinking about bringing it to my mom's house but there's one problem, my mom has these mice that keep coming in from outside from some hole will they come after my parakeet to try to eat them or will the food attract them?Or will they be afraid of the parakeets vice versa.

  1. Rodents will be attracted to the scent of the food and to the droppings. There's no way you can keep the rodents from knowing the birds are there. Even if the mice don't attack, which they probably won't (rats may be another story), they can scare the heck out of you little ones. When caged birds become frightened, especially at night, they tend to try to fly, and thrash about in the cage. This can break blood feathers which may be fatal to your birds. Keep 'em at Dad's. =)

  2. You want to get rid of your mom's mouse problem before bringing the birds in.  The seeds could definitely grab their attention (vacuuming helps, but you can't keep the area completely clean all the time), and if the mice get to the birds, they could make them sick or even attack and kill them.
