Question:

Will heat destroy herbs?

I ordered some supplements on the internet, they mostly contain herbs but some do have some vitamins as well.

The sender shipped them with an ice pack via UPS, when the package arrived to me everything in the box was VERY hot. Especially the ones packaged in glass bottles. I called the company and they are offering me to send them back and a full refund. They said I will have to pay for overnight shipping to get them here and still be cold.

So if these vitamins/herbs were overheated for I am guessing about 5-7 days, are they any good? Thanks!

  1. that would depend on what they were and how they were processed

  2. Why would the company waste their money to ship something packed on ice if it wasn't for a reason? I'm no real expert, but heat can definitely destroy certain active ingredients. I would insist that the company pay for the return shipping as well.

  3. Heat kills vitamins so they are probably ruined, which is why the company offered to refund your money.

  4. First question why did they send them in glass. What happend to shipping them in plastic with holes in it so the plant can breath....Yes that can make the plant hot/dehydrated.
